In my web browser, what does the little padlock icon next to a web site address mean?
Sometimes when you’re surfing the Internet or using one of your favorite web sites, you’ll see a little padlock icon next to the web address in your browser window. The padlock icon means that the site is using a secure server. In this situation, the information you share with the web site should be safer than it would be with a site that doesn’t have this kind of protection.
